The following table shows communications parameters for the different brands of Total stations supported by Party Chief.
Instrument | Baud Rate | Parity | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Geodimeter | 1200 | None | Format is 1.8.0.1200 |
Kern | Unsupported | ||
Leica/Wild | 2400 | Even | |
Nikon | 4800 | None | |
Pentax | 1200 | None | |
Sokkia/Lietz | 1200 | None | Set5F: Turn XON/XOFF Off, CRC Off |
Topcon | 1200 | Even | 7 Data bits, 1 stop bit, ACK/NAK |
Zeiss | 1200 | Odd |
All instruments should be set for 8 data bits, 1 stop bit unless specified otherwise.
When transferring data to an instrument, you are typically sending and receiving less than 80 bytes of data. With this little data, the baud rate has very little effect on speed, therefore, we use slower baud rates to achieve the highest reliability. Our baud rates are generally the default that was in effect for that type of instrument when we first developed the driver. For example, older Topcon instruments support only 1200 baud.
Topcon driver has been tested with 3B, 300, 200,201 Series. Party Chief versions prior to 4.1 will not support the 200 series unless you load an additional driver.
To support Topcon's 1" instruments such as the 303, GTS500, GTS601 and GPT1003, download this driver.
To support Leica's TC400-600 series, (and also the TC(R)307, TC1102, and related), download this driver.
Many instruments have an additional setting which toggles between internal and external data collection. This should be set to EXTERNAL for use with Party Chief.
Lietz supports Set3, Set4, Set5. SDM3ER supported by other driver.
